NTPC’s 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar Project is Now Fully Operational!

NTPC Renewable Energy has completed the commissioning of its 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat with the commercial launch of the final 105 MW phase, marking the full operationalisation of one of India’s major utility-scale renewable energy projects.

In a regulatory filing dated 27 May 2026, the company announced that the eighth and final phase of the project will commence commercial operations from 28 May 2026. Following the addition of the remaining 105 MW capacity, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Group has risen from 10,516.40 MW to 10,621.40 MW.

The Khavda-II Solar PV Project represents a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy expansion and further strengthens NTPC Green Energy’s role in the country’s clean energy transition. Gujarat continues to attract large-scale solar investments due to its high solar irradiation levels, extensive land availability, and supportive infrastructure ecosystem.

The successful completion of the project underscores India’s ongoing efforts to accelerate renewable energy deployment, enhance energy security, and reduce dependence on conventional power sources.
